Professional Biography
Bryan is an associate at Smith|Hartvigsen where he specializes in Intellectual Property law matters, assisting clients in obtaining and protecting patent, copyright, and trademark rights. As a registered patent attorney, he represents clients before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office in a wide range of technical disciplines, including chemistry and chemical engineering, mechanics, horticulture, electrical, and business methods.
Bryan also assists clients in all forms of business and transactional work, including contract drafting and negotiation, intellectual property licensing, franchising, computer and Internet law, import/export regulations, due diligence, opinion work, and related matters. He has worked for independent inventors and start-up companies as well as growing and established businesses. Prior to joining Smith|Hartvigsen, Bryan served as in-house counsel for a Utah-based technology firm.
With the benefit of his legal and technical background, Bryan has also represented clients in a wide range of Natural Resources Law matters before Utah state courts, administrative agencies such as the Public Service Commission and Division of Water Rights, and in transactional matters. His range of expertise includes water, oil & gas, environmental, and land use issues for private clients as well as public and local government entities.
Bryan is an avid baseball fan, and enjoys fishing, tennis, playing the piano, and reading and studying history. Bryan is a native of Price, Utah.
