Professional Biography
Mr. Nielsen entered law practice in 1976 in a general civil trial practice and appellate work
and practices before the Utah Supreme Court and district
courts, Tenth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, and the United
States Supreme Court. From 1978 to 1985, Mr. Nielsen specialized in
firm appellate matters for all firm clients and in all areas
of law, including appeals from final judgments, interlocutory matters, petitions for certiorari to the higher appellate courts, and extraordinary writs.
From June 1985 Mr. Nielsen served as a Utah Appellate Court staff attorney until December 1991. In January 1992, he returned to private practice, specializing in appellate practice. He served as a member of the Utah Supreme Court's Appellate Rules Committee and Disciplinary Rules Committee and as the Utah Bar Appellate Section Chair. Mr. Nielsen
served two terms on the Supreme Court's Disciplinary Panel Committee, serving as a panel vice-chair. He also has extensive experience in family law matters and real estate sales transactions. Currently, Mr. Nielsen's
practice primarily focuses in Appellate Law and Family and Domestic Law, including divorce and separation, child custody, support, protection, adoption and general litigation.
